The N-VA organization displays a few specific characteristics. N-VA party members and activists have a wide range of good opportunities to make far-reaching contributions by participating in the party’s life.
The General Members’ Congress (party congress) is naturally the highest body within the party. It gives its opinion on all fundamental matters and on the N-VA’s orientation. All members have the right to speak and vote at the Congress.
The Party Council determines the guidelines for the N-VA’s operation, appoints party leaders and monitors them. The Party Council is composed of people such as representatives from the districts, Members of Parliament, fractions in provincial councils and provincial chairpersons.
The Party Executive is responsible for implementing the Party Council’s decisions and for day-to-day party leadership. It follows political developments very closely.
The Executive Committee is responsible for preparing and executing the decisions of the Party Executive. It takes decisions on the party’s organization and operations, and coordinates the operations of the party secretariat’s departments and of the parliamentary fractions.
The Secretariat is the Party’s organizational and political centre. All of the N-VA’s departments are located there: the political secretariat, the members’ administration, accounting, the editorial office of the national magazine for members, the editorial board for the local door-to-door pamphlets, the research department, the local back office and operations for representatives, operations for the youth wing, etc.
